Have you been to Steamboat before? Any particular advice, comments, suggestions for those of who are going for the first time?

another place to love. lots of nice cruising runs that are well groomed. it has one big advantage over many resorts. it has a good quantity of natuarl snow that is dry. last seasson they set a snow record. i was lucky enough to be there for a 24 inch dump. it's alot of work but fun.
in that powder 6000 or 7000 feet will wear you out especially if you get stuck on a flat trail and have to pole/skate out. hey it was a blizzard and you had trouble seeing.
the town is a bus ride away and worth walking around. the resort base is big enough so you can just stay there. note they have bus lines that can get you anywhere, but be sure to pick the correct color line.

Been to Steamboat several times, and love it enough to go back every year, schedule permitting!
There are plenty of green runs, lots of wide open blues, and glades, and steeps and bumps, and Trees! Christmas Tree Bowl is scary fun.
Who cares about the nightlife after skiing Steamboat. Although they do have a great town that's very easy to get to.

Just returned from my first trip to Steamboat. Lots to love about Steamboat. First, getting around was a breeze. Excellent shuttle services to the base area and into Steamboat Springs. No need to drive a car and worry about parking. Lots of nice restaurants. Tried Mondo's Italian, Ore House (steak), and the Smokehouse. All were excellent. Be sure to try Ore House's house potatoes!!!
As for the slopes, the runs off the Sunshine lift (Tomahawk) etc. offer nice easy blue cruising. The Morningside area was very scenic and offered some great tree skiing. I found some more challenging runs off the Pony Express lift and it looked like the area to go to in order to avoid crowds which seem to gravitate towards the Sunshine lift.
I like the early lift times. 8:30 am startup is earlier than most other resorts.
With lots of great resorts to choose from, Steamboat may not make my personal top 5 but I can certainly see why its a favorite for many. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if the opportunity arises.
